The Special and Superior Officers Benevolent Association was founded in 1972 by James Pizzulli. He led the way in forming a new PBA for private Police Departments, Public Safety Officers and Security Officers in Hospitals, Airports, City and State Buildings.
The Special and Superior Officers Benevolent Association assisted the New York City Hospital Police and the Bridge and Tunnel Officers get their Peace Officer status and forming their own PBA.
Congressman Mario Biagi, Mayor Abe Beame and other local politicians supported the movement of James Pizzulli. For over 30 years Mr. Pizzulli, with his wife Mae at his side, helped uniformed officers find a better way of life for themselves and their families. Now the Special and Superior Officers Benevolent Association is over 3,000 strong and growing as a result of our outstanding contracts for our members.
We take pride in getting the Peace Officer bill passed under the Special and Superior Officers Benevolent Association flag. Currently, because of the Special and Superior Officers Benevolent Association's direction, new bills for training and handling pysch patients are being brought to the floor.
We pledge that this Union shall be the beacon of light for all those that seek to unite and follow the vision of its leadership in the labor movement. We will never be divided and shall always be true to our Union.
